AFTER two busy nights of Champions League and English Championship action we turn our attention to the final round of matches from the Europa League group stage.
It’s a bit of a minefiled given that many of the groups are decided and they is likely to be sweeping changes made by managers as they look to rotate their squads.
One place that wont be happening is Ibrox as Rangers look to put a disappointing week behind them by beating Swiss side young boys and secure 1st spot in what is a really competitive group.
Outside of this It’s a night for small stakes and backing goals.
Rangers vs Young Boys (KO 8pm)
It’s been a bitterly disappointing week for Rangers – they let a two goal lead slip at Aberdeen fo fall 2 points behind rivals Celtic and they then blew their chance of silverware as they were essentially robbed in the Betfred Cup Final, woeful finishing and wonderful goal keeping ensured Celtic won a 10th consecutive domestic trophy, despite one of their poorest performances in a long time.
To play at your best against a side at their worst and still not end up victors was a bitter pill to swallow for Rangers and they will still be hurting from that 1-0 defeat but they have an opportunity to bring the feel good factor back to Ibrox by getting the point they need to qualify, in what has to be said , one of the toughest groups in the competition.
Victory over Young Boys would see them top the group which would be a fantastic achievement but they are in for tough match against a Young Boys side who need to win.
In terms of the betting angle, Rangers will be aided by a full house of 50,000 fans and the players will be desperate to make up for Sundays cup final defeat.
It’s a match I don’t see them losing but given Young Boys position, they can ill afford to sit back and it should ensure we see at least 2 goals.
I’d expect a feisty affair, especially late on and as one of the two sides will have one foot into the knockouts. There’s been 11 cards in their two group matches at Ibrox and we should see at least another 4 tonight.
