AFTER what felt like a million qualifying rounds, Europe’s premier club competition proper finally kicks off on Tuesday with 8 games taking place.
Selectabet and I recorded a special edition of the Gambla betting podcast which is available to listen to and there are loads of fantastic threads on the site on the competition.
I’ve picked out three bets which are all detailed in the Podcast so give it a listen.
Inter Milan vs Slavia Prague (KO 5.55pm)
The Italian giants have qualified for the group stages in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2012 and will be looking to avenge last seasons unfortunate goal difference elimination having picked up a creditable 8 points in a group that contained Barcelona and finalists Tottenham.
Spurs also had 8 points but scored 2 more goals so it was the Londoners who progressed – they return better equipped this time around with Antonio Conte at the helm and 11 new signings, including Sanchez and Lukaku.
They top Serie A with three wins from three and kick of this campaign in the best possible way by playing bottom seeds Slavia Prague who are well out there depth in this competition.
Its the Czech sides first appearance since 2007 and they narrowly defeated Cluj to get here which is hardy inspiring.
Inter beat Spurs and drew with Barcelona last season at home – they look strong and should start with an comfortable 3 points against a side who have won just one of their last 13 in Europe away from home.
Recommended Bet:
- Inter Milan -1
- 11/10 (Bet365) (NAP)
Red Bull Salzburg vs Genk (KO 8pm)
Its been a long absence for the Austrian side but they are finally back in the big time and should take their terrific Europa league showing last term into this competition.
They are flying domestically scoring at will and I fancy them to see off a Genk side sitting mid table in the Belgium Super League.
