Here we go again! 32 teams start their quest to become Champions of Europe this week as the Champions League makes a welcome return to the football schedule over the next two nights.
From the moment the draw was made Group F looked a cracker and it’s thrown up two of the tastiest ties this evening. In Paris, PSG host 1997 winners Borussia Dortmund whilst at the San Siro, Newcastle United make a long-awaited return to the Europe’s table against 7-time winners, AC Milan.
The Magpies are 31/20 to mark their reappearance with a win but they’ve not got off to the best start domestically and the value looks like it could lie with the Italians at 17/10.
At 1/18 Manchester City are one of the shortest prices in Champions League history against Red Star Belgrade who lifted the trophy in 1991 but they’re 500/1 to do so this season.
The Serbians have suffered a couple of defeats already domestically this season and could be in for a long night at the Etihad.
Erling Haaland’s record in the competition speaks for itself and he’s an incredible 2/7 to score and just 7/2 to score a hat-trick!
Best bet could be a couple of first half goals for the reigning champs at 10/11.
Both Feyenoord and Celtic are in the competition as champions and while the Hoops currently lead the way in Scotland, Feyenoord sit fourth in Eredivisie, a point behind those above them having played a game more.
They had a bit of a wobble about a month ago, drawing with Fortuna and with Sparta in the Rotterdam derby but they’ve responded in style, scoring 17 goals in three wins since, albeit against some Eredivisie cannon-fodder.
But Celtic should also be wary that the Dutchmen put six past Sturm Graz and seven past Shakhtar Donesk (whom Celtic drew with twice last season) at De Kuip, en route to the Europa League quarter-finals.
It’s a game that should see goals. Celtic’s defence is usually like. A sieve when on European duty but they’ve also plenty of threat going forward. Over 2.5 Goals pays 4/6. Doubling that with a home win gives a 6/5 return.
Young Boys have been known to pull off big results at home in the competition. Their previous two campaigns saw them defeat Manchester United and Juventus. They’re 4/1 to beat RB Leipzig this evening but the Germans travel to Switzerland in decent shape, winning their last three in the Bundesliga.
It could be another game that could see goals at 4/7. In fact there’s a case to be made for all games going Over 2.5 Goals which pays 45/1 at Bet365.
