Familiar foes Rangers and PSV Eindhoven go toe-to-toe for a place in the Champions League for the second year in a row.
PSV are eyeing revenge after the Glasgow giants prevailed 12 months ago with a 3-2 aggregate win, banking a small fortune at Europe’s top table.
Things looked bleak for the Gers after a 2-2 draw at Ibrox but Antonio Colak’s solitary goal at the Philips Stadion was enough to send the Gers through. A reminder that this tie won’t be over regardless of the result at Ibrox tonight.
PSV have made s strong start to the season, winning their opening two Eredivisie games, putting seven past Sturm Graz across two legs in Champions League qualifying and lifting the Dutch Super Cup in a 1-0 win over champions Feyenoord.
32-year-old Luuk De Jong will be the danger man for PSV, he’s already netted four times this season and will feel he’s got a score to settle from last season when he disappointed over two legs. New addition Noa Lang has also impressed since his arrival from Club Brugge but he remains an injury doubt for Peter Bosz’s men.
It’ll be a massive test for Michael Beale’s men who have yet to convince so far this season but a full house at Ibrox really can be like a 12th man on these European nights.
The bookies make PSV 2/5 favourites to qualify with Rangers at 7/4. The Dutchmen are also favourites to win in Glasgow tonight, priced up at 13/10 compared to 19/10 for the Gers who have drifted from 17/10.
Goals are usually guaranteed when Rangers play at this level, both for and against. Over 2.5 pays 7/10 and a repeat of last season’s first leg scoreline (2-2) would see Over 3.5 land at 13/8.
It would be remiss not to mention the 7/2 on James Tavernier to score. The Gers captain is deadly from the penalty spot and has an incredible scoring record in Europe.
