After the excitement of Cheltenham we’ve a few fascinating Champions League games which are finely balanced, to look forward to.
Benfica came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Ajax in Lisbon but could find things a bit more difficult in Amsterdam where the hosts are just 4/11 to win.
It could be another game that sees goals, the Dutch champions have now scored 77 in 26 Eredivise games so certainly know where the back fo the net is. Over 2.5 Goals is just 4/11 but Over 1.5 First Half Goals is backable at 10/11 and that landed comfortably in the first leg which was 1-2 at half-time. Dusan Tadic opened the scoring in that match and he’s been boosted to 5/1 by Bet365 to repeat that feat.
Anthony Elanga’s late goal earned Man Utd a draw at Atletico Madrid a few weeks ago to set up a blockbuster match at Old Trafford tonight.
For both sides the Champions League looks their best route to success this season and with each of them battling for a top four finish in their respective leagues winning the trophy would secure entry to the competition for next season, but there’s a long way to go before either can be considered serious contenders to be crowned Champions of europe. For what it’s worth Man Utd are currently 25/1 and Atletico are 33/1.
With no away goals at play, the odds on the tie going to extra-time are greatly increased. There was little to choose between the sides in the first leg, United enjoyed more possession but the La Liga champions had more shots on goal. It could take more than 90 minutes to separate the sides and the draw at 11/5 appeals.
Cristiano Ronaldo rolled back the years against Spurs at the weekend with a brilliant hat-trick and the Portuguese hitman, who is no stranger to a goal against Atleti, is 7/2 to open the scoring tonight.
