The qualification picture for England and Scotland became a little clearer thanks to results on Monday and it’s good news for both home nations.
England’s progress to the last 16 is now mathematically assured, while Scotland know that a win over Croatia will guarantee qualification to the knock-out stages of major tournament for the first time.
Story of the night was in Copenhagen where the great Danes trounced Russia 4-1 and secured second place in Group B to the delight of just about every neutral football fan in Europe. They’ll now face Wales in the last 16.
Austria’s 1-0 win over Ukraine in Group C booked them a knock-out tie with Italy in London on Saturday while the Netherlands finished the group stage with maximum points.
Tuesday night could be a historic one in Glasgow if the Steve Clarke’s charges can beat Croatia. For once Scotland’s fate is firmly in their own hands. Bet365 makes them 2/1 chances to get the win they so desperatley need and there’ll be plenty of the Tartan Army jumping on those kind of prices.
