A 4-1 win for West Ham helped us to another Super Single winner on Monday. The Hammers were hugely impressive in overcoming Leicester City and their four-goal haul saw them leap to the top of the Premier League on goal difference.
Tuesday sees 13 Premier League clubs enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage but it’s still a bit of a nightmare for punters.
The ties are still split on a geographical basis so there’s plenty of local bragging rights at stake and that might help provide some pointers for tonight’s bets.
There’s an all-Premier League clash at Vicarage Road where Crystal Palace (6/4) visit Watford (7/4), Everton (11/20) travel to Championship side Huddersfield (11/2) and League Two side Barrow (7/1) will be aiming to claim a Premier League scalps in the shape of Aston Villa (4/11) who make the trip north.
It’s so hard to know how to take this competition seriously from a betting point of view since most teams will field fringe players and rotate their squad. Until we see some team news it’s not worth getting involved in the outright markets so be patient before sticking on your accas.
One game that could produce goals is Wigan v Bolton. The Latics have left it late in their last three fixtures, all four goals scored after the 88th minute and earning them seven points. James McClean has been added to the squad and Charlie Wyke will surely score goals for them this season. Bolton’s four league games have seen 16 goals scored (F9 A7) so odds of around 19/20 (Marathonbet) on Over 2.5 goals might be as good as it gets on a tricky night in the cup.
Millions are at stake in the Champions League play-offs tonight with three ties intriguingly poised. The eye-catching match of the night is in Eindhoven where PSV host Benfica with a 2-1 first leg deficit to turn around. The Dutch are 10/11 to win on the night but as big as 11/8 to qualify.
Rangers’ nemesis Malmo have one foot in the group stages after a 2-0 home win over Ludogorets. They must see the tie out in Bulgaria and if their performance at ibrox is anything to go by they shuold be more than capable, although 1/9 to qualify is on the skinny side.
Young Boys and Ferencvaros shared five goals between them last week with the Swiss champions coming out on top to take a slender lead to Hungary tonight. Goals could be on the cards again but it’s no surprise to see Over 2.5 priced up as short as 8/15.
