FUNERALS are difficult at the best of times but they’re especially heart-wrenching during the current circumstances, however Mr Fixit was given a fitting send-off by his family and friends who gathered to celebrate his life earlier today (Monday).
Beautiful tributes to Paul were made during both services at St Joseph’s and Cydebank Crematorium, each underlining Paul’s innumerable qualites, his love of life and his devotion to his family.
Sandwiched in-between was an emotional stop-off at Holm Park where a crowd had gathered to say farewell to one of Clydebank FC’s most dedicated fans. Applause rang out as the cortège arrived and departed and it was wonderful to see some of those in attendance bedecked in the Bankies’ famous red and white colours.
Paul’s death has touched so many people, both locally and further afield, as witnessed by the multitude of heart-felt comments left here on the site from visitors around the world. Indeed it was great to see the site represented by members of our team here as well as Craneguy and Greg. In his own humble style he’d have been embarrassed by all the fuss.
Paul was the best in all of us. Kind, loving, humorous, patient and generous to a fault.
He also brought out the very best in everyone he met. A smile was never far from his face, nor a quip from his lips. You were always in good company when Paul was around. He is simply irreplaceable and will be missed by so many.
Hold Paul in your hearts and above all else, strive to be more like Paul and you won’t go far wrong in life.
Thoughts and prayers are with Paul’s family who can be very proud of the send-off they gave him today.
Rest in Peace Paul. x
