A two-goal first leg lead makes Liverpool’s trip to Villarreal look a foregone conclusion, but Unai Emery may have different ideas in tonight’s semi-final second leg.
In an ideal world Emery’s side would have been at home first, got themselves a result to cling on to and then frutrate their opponents and get the job done in the second leg. That was their modus operandi when eliminating Juventus and Bayern Munich in previous rounds.
Now they’ll have to have a go at Liverpool in order to find the two goals they’ll need to stay in the tie and that might play in to the Reds’ hands. Depsite not needing to win Liverpool are 7/10 for a victory in Spain while the home side are 15/4.
The Yellow Submarine held firm for almost an hour at Anfield last week and it could be another slow starter. Obviously Liverpool don’t need to be too gung-ho and at the same time will be keen to keep things tight at the back and not give Villarreal any encouragement. No goal before the 26th minute pasy 5/6 at Bet365.
There’s a massive game in the Championship tonight where Bournemouth could book their ticket back to the top flight with a win over Nottingham Forest. Lose and it’ll be all to play for on the final day this weekend.
The Cherries hold a three point lead over Forest but they’d slip out of the automatic promotion place on goal difference if the visitors can claim the three points.
The Tricky Trees thumped Swansea 5-1 on Saturday to make it nine wins from 10 and to boost their goal difference which could be crucial. Boss Steve Cooper has done a brilliant job at the City Ground lifting the club from second bottom of the table to being just two wins away from a return to the Premier League. You couldn’t rule them out at 11/5 tonight against a Bournemouth side that are stumbing their way towards promotion, winning only two of the thier last seven.
