Bundesliga league leaders Bayern Munich took a giant stride towards retaining their crown Tuesday, when the current German champions carved out a crucial 1-0 win at rivals Borussia Dortmund.
The victory at an empty Signal Iduna Park opened up a mammoth seven-point gap between Bayern and their closest challengers as an eight straight Bundesliga title moves into view, and on Saturday, Hansi Flick’s men are huge favourites to strengthen their grip on top spot with a game against relegation candidates Fortuna Dusseldorf at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
3rd from bottom Fortuna haven’t beaten their more illustrious foe in 30 years, and few are expecting Die Flingeraner to offer much resistance against a Bayern side searching for their 10th straight win in all competitions.

Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf OddsBoosts
Serge Gnabry to score first and Bayern Munich to win 4-0 or 5-0
18/1 –> 22/1
Serge Gnabry has been an absolute revelation for Bayern Munich this season, and Arsenal fans around the world are looking on in envy at a player they sold to Werder Bremen for just £5 million four years ago.
The flying attacker has scored 18 goals for Bayern Munich this season and has scored six in his last nine appearances, so it’s definitely conceivable that he could find the net first tonight.
As far as predicting the correct score goes, it’s easy to see Bayern keeping a clean sheet here. They have the best defensive record in the Bundesliga and have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven in all competitions. They have averaged 3.07 goals per home game in the league this season and have won 4-0 or 5-0 on three occasions at the Allianz Arena.
Robert Lewandowski & Serge Gnabry 3 or more shots on target each
5/1 –> 6/1
Robert Lewandowski’s scoring record needs no introduction (although we will look into that a bit later) and to score that many goals you need to take a few chances. The Polish international averages a massive 4.6 shots per game – the most in the Bundesliga by some distance. This rises to 5.0 shots per game at the Allianz Arena.
One of his closest challengers is none other than Serge Gnabry, who has an attempt on goal 3.1 times per game and 3.4 times per game on home soil. Lewandowski and Gnabry have had a huge 205 shots between them this season, so 6/1 for them to hit the target three times apiece looks a great price.
Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf #OOT
Bayern Munich to score in both halves & Bayern Munich 4+ corners in each half
It goes without saying that Bayern Munich hit the back of the net frequently – after all they do harbour the best attacking record in the Bundesliga. These goals are fairly evenly split between halves too, with 43% of them coming before the break. In fact, they have scored in both halves in 64% of their home games.
They have failed to score before half-time in just 29% of their home league games this term and have hit the back of the net 46 times in the final 45. Fortuna Dusseldorf have conceded before half-time in half of their away games too and have conceded a massive 35 goals after the break.
Given Die Roten’s overwhelming dominance of possession, it’s unsurprising to see them top of the corner charts too. They average 7.21 corners per game and have won exactly half of their 202 corners this season before half-time.
Bayern Munich to win both halves & Robert Lewandowski to score 2 or more.
Der FCB have been leading at half-time in 16 of their Bundesliga matches this season, and with Fortuna Dusseldorf expected to wilt under Bayern’s pressure it’s a strong possibility that they’ll dominate proceedings from start to finish. Fortuna Dusseldorf, meanwhile, have conceded in both halves in 43% of their Bundesliga road trips this season.
Now is the time to delve in to Robert Lewandowski’s mind-boggling scoring record. Bayern’s leading man has scored an incredible 42 competitive goals for his club this season, with those coming in just 36 appearances. He has scored at least two goals on 11 occasions, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see his goals to games ratio get even more impressive against Fortuna Dusselorf on Saturday.
Serge Gnabry to score, Bayern Munich to score in both halves and Kaan Ayhan to be carded
We’ve already discussed Serge Gnabry’s impressive record of 18 goals and six in his last nine for Die Bayern this season, and we’ve also analysed Bayern’s record of scoring in both halves in 64% of their home games. That leaves Kaan Ayhan as the main focal point, and it’s very easy to see him picking up a card tonight.
Fortuna Dusseldorf have picked up a Bundesliga-high 68 yellow cards this season, and a significant portion of that rests on Kaan Ayhan’s shoulders. The 25-year-old Fortuna player has been booked a bone-crunching 10 times this season, making him the second most ill-disciplined player in the Bundesliga.
Half of these bookings have been dished out in his 12 away appearances and, with him set to face an astoundingly talented Bayern attack that dominates possession, he’ll need to put a challenge or two in here.
