Nigma Galaxy are easily one of the top three Western European teams still in the race for a spot in The International 2022, which explains why they’re $1.12 favourites to defeat goonsquad. Still, we expect this to be a much closer affair than the latest Dota 2 betting odds suggest.
Goonsquad have not achieved much this year and were particularly disappointing in July when they crashed out of ESL One Malaysia EU/CIS Open Qualifier in last place. Nevertheless, goonsquad have played a few close series against other top European squads during the third DPC Tour, so it’s not like we can write them off entirely.
Nigma Galaxy had a rough start to the season, but things have changed since the signing of Syed “SumaiL” Hassan at the end of May, who helped his new team claim the Tour 3 Division II crown with a perfect 7-0 record. However, Nigma have not won anything outside of that, crashing out of Riyadh Masters 2022 in fifth-sixth and ESL One Malaysia 2022 in seventh-eighth place.
Over that stretch, Nigma Galaxy have won just two games (2-6-3), yet even those came against two struggling squads in BOOM Esports and TSM. So even though Nigma Galaxy field superior players, their lack of consistency could see them drop at least one map.

Alliance might be a household name in the European Dota 2 scene, but their chances of reaching The International 2022 are slim to none. The constant roster changes, inability to keep hold of their best players, and overall lack of success across the season have turned Alliance into a squad that has no business competing in the top division.
That’s perfectly illustrated by their results since the start of June, having failed to win a single game ( 0-2-10). Their best results over that stretch came at the end of August when Alliance forced a stalemate against Talon Esports and Thunder Awaken.
On the other side, Entity has been playing reasonably well this season despite not winning a big trophy. Still, they have placed fourth at DPC WEU Tour 3 Division I and added two fifth-sixth place finishes at PGL Arlington Major 2022 and ESL One Malaysia 2022 in August.
Everything points towards a 2-0 sweep for Entity, but at $1.36, this is not a bet we’re interested in. They are good, but it’s hard to justify backing them at the offered Dota 2 betting odds.
Alliance with a 16.5-kill handicap on the first two maps at $1.83 is the right play. They have been struggling, but this is an experienced roster that should step up in important events like this one.
Alliance +16.5 kills
