The African Cup of Nations hasn’t been short on surprises so far but all three of today’s fixtures in Ivory Coast look tough to call.
The hosts can book their place in the knock-out stages with a win over Nigeria and home advantage could be the deciding factor for the Ivorians at 11/10.
Also in Group is the battle of the ‘Guineas’ – Equatorial Guinea versus Guinea Bissau. Good luck picking a winner out of that one!
The evening game sees Egypt and Ghana searching for their first win after shock results in their openers.
Mo Salah kept his nerve to salvage a point for Egypt with a 97th minute penalty against Mozambique. Whereas Ghana were on the receiving end of a 92nd goal which saw them lose to the small island nation of Cape Verde which has a population smaller than Glasgow.
Egypt are rated favourites at 19/20 which is more understandable when you factor in that the Black Stars have won just one of their last six outings now which also includes a friendly draw with Namibia and a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in World Cup qualifying.
In Spain we’re at the last 16 stage of the Copa Del Rey and three of La Liga’s giants are in action. The stand-out tie is the Madrid Derby at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Atletico’s record in the competition is abysmal. They’ve won the cup just once in the last 27 years and only been finalists on two occasions this century. They’ve failed to reach the semi-finals since 2017-18 and have been knocked out by 3rd tier opposition in two of the last four editions.
They were eliminated by Real Madrid in extra-time at this stage last season and it’s 3/4 they’re knocked out again by their neighbours.
Real impressed in their 4-1 Super Cup final win over Barcelona last week after winning a 5-3 thriller against Atleti in the Saudi Arabian semi-final, which made it just one in six for Diego Simeone’s men. Everything points to a Real Madrid win at 29/20.
