It’s a rare luxury for Scotland to have qualified for a major tournament with two games to spare but there’s still a lot at stake for the Tartan Army in the week ahead.
The Scots are level on points with Spain and could still finish top of Group A but they’d need the Spanish to falter in their final two games against Georgia or Cyprus, whom they play tonight.
Steve Clarke will just be happy to get back to winning ways after three consecutive defeats to European heavyweights, England, France and Spain.
Two wins in their remaining two games would secure Scotland a place in Pot 2 in the draw but they’ve struggled in Georgia previously, losing on their last two visits and with key players like captain Andy Robertson, Aaron Hickey, Kieran Tierney, Che Adams and regular no.1, Angus Gunn all sidelined this could be a tricky one.
But Clarke should have enough quality available to him, especially in the midfield where where McTominay and McGinn have been two of their biggest goal threats.
Spain were the only team to prevent Scotland scoring two or more in Group A and it’s 6/5 that they net at least a couple this evening.
Luxembourg have already beaten Bosnia & Herzegovina, a 2-0 win in Zenica, and are two points ahead of them going in to tonight’s clash, with Liechtenstein still to play. That makes it hard to fathom why the visitors are favourites to win.
Add to the fact that Bosnia & Herzegovina’s win in Liechtenstein last month was their third in 24 on foreign soil, going back five years, their only other two wins coming in Kazakhstan and again in Liechtenstein.
Improving Luxembourg look the value bet at 17/10.
Hungary can book their Euro 2024 place in Sofia against an underperforming Bulgaria who are winless in Group G. A draw will be enough for the Hungarians so be wary backing them at 4/7.
Same can be said for Austria, who, with the pressure off, should win comfortably at Estonia but with little to play are hardly worth the risk on the handicap markets.
