England cruised through to the U21 European Championship final with another win to nil yesterday.
The 3-0 triumph over Israel sets up a showdown with Spain on Saturday evening and the bookies now make Lee Carsley’s side slight favourites at 4/5 to lift the trophy for the first time since 1984 when Gary Mabbutt, Steve Hodge and Mark Hateley were all in their youth.
The Spanish showed their clash in last night’s semi-final, thumping Ukraine 5-1 after going a goal down and the the bookies make them 19/20 to be crowned Euro champs once more.
It should set-up a cracker of a finale.
It’s day four at Wimbledon where Britons Liam Broady and Andy Murray are both in action on Centre Court.
Murray had to wait until 8pm last night to find out who he’ll face today. In the end it was Stefanos Tsitsipas that prevailed after five sets and almost four hours against Dominic Thiem.
The Centre Court may be like a home-from-home for Murray but it’ll be Tsitsipas first match on the hallowed turf. Bet365 go 4/6 on the Scot to prevail while the No.5 seed is 6/5 to win.
It’s unlikely to be a quick one and no-one loves a five set epic more than Murray. The 7/4 on it to go the distance looks very attractive.
The drama is set to continue at Headlingley where England will feel they have a score to settle against the Aussies who won in controversial fashion at Lords on Wednesday.
England are 9/1 to come back for two-nil down to win the series – something they’ve never done in the Ashes before.
To win this third Test they’re 8/5 with Australia favourites at 5/4.
Ben Stokes was outstanding for England, managing a brilliant 155 runs on the final day of the second Test and he may need to pull out all the stops again if England are to be victorious. The 32-year-old is 11/1 to be named Player of the Match.
