Where else could we start today but with doffing our cap to Rizzel, our racing tipster, who’s tip for the Coral Cup, Commander of Fleet defied the sodden ground to claim the spoils at a massive 50/1!
It followed an excellent 10/1 winner on Day One to leave his followers in good shape with two days to go. Well done Rizzel!! Don’t miss his tips for St Patrick’s Day at the Festival which are listed below.
On with the football action…
Rangers couldn’t have dreamed of being in such a commanding position ahead of a second leg for the chance to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Last week’s 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade gives the Gers a real cushion ahead of the return tie in Serbia.
Red Star will feel a little aggrieved not to have left Glasgow with something last week after missing a penalty, having three goals ruled out and hitting the woodwork, but it’s goals that count and the Gers have given themselves a great chance of progressing.
They’ll need to avoid the concession of an early goal which would fire up the partisan home crowd so it’ll be all about keeping things tight at the back for the Gers. Bet365 have set the goal line at 28:00 where it’s 5/6 that no goal is conceded before then but that feels a little on the high side.
Rangers other route to success could be to score one at the other end, which would leave the hosts needing at least four, but the bookies have a Gers goal at just 4/11.
Of course, a one-goal or even two-goal defeat would still be good enough for Rangers so getting over even money on Red Star (23/20 Bet365), who remain unbeaten at home in the league, can’t be ignored.
It’s all set up for a cracker at the London Stadium where West Ham will be aiming to overturn a 1-0 loss to Sevilla from the first leg. The Spaniards, who have an incredible record in this competition won’t go lightly though, especially as their Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium will host the final in May.
The Hammers have the ability to hurt Sevilla but the visitors’ European experience may be enough to see it through, as per Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford on Tuesday. Bet365 go just 2/5 on Sevilla to qualify so there’s no value there.
Although it was tight affair last week it could be more open this time around as West Ham go chasing a goal. Sevilla are more than capable of getting on the scoresheet themselves and BTTS is handily priced at 19/20
Bodo/Glimt are no longer European’s unknowns following a string of brilliant results in Europe. Their 2-1 home win over AZ Alkmaar was yet another fine vcitory and their game is well suited to playing on the break. That could suit them in the Netherlands tonight where they’re 15/4 to win. They obviously don’t need to win so it’s a little bit of a punt but they’ve proven that they’re good enough and would be a good addition to a long-shot or permed coupon tonight.
