Pointless so far in the Europa League, Rangers have a great chance to get their European campaign off and running tonight at Ibrox.
Danish champions Brondby are the visitors but they currently sit 6th in the Superliga having won just three of their opening 12 fixtures. A 0-0 draw with Sparta Prague earned them thier first point in Group A and they’d probably be happy with a share of the spoils from their trip to Glasgow.
But it’s must win territory for Rangers who have failed to reach the heights of previous European campaigns. An early exit from the Champions League at the hands of Malmo was followed by a nervy 1-0 aggregate win over Armenians, Alashkert. Defeats to Lyon and Sparta, both without scoring leaves the Gers propping up the table.
A full Ibrox should see them over the line at 12/25 with SBK and a win to nil appeals at 11/8 (SBK) against a side that’s mustered just one shot on target in the group stages so far.
Genk travel to London to face West Ham in Group H and do so in pretty poor form. The Belgians are languishing in mid-table in the Pro-League and have lost four of their last five including a resounding 3-0 home defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.
David Moyes’ side haven’t put a foot wrong in the competition so far with two 2-0 wins to date and can build on their 1-0 win at Everton on Saturday with another European success. At 4/11 though they should be a solid pick for your acca.
Red Star Belgrade could be a bit of value away to Midtjylland at 2/1. The Serbians are in good form domestically (W9 D2) and have notched two wins from their opening two in Group F so a win would take them to the brink of qualification. The Danes may be ruling the roost domestically but tend to struggle against better opposition.
In the Europa Conference League Spurs will attract plenty of support at even money away to Vitesse. On the face of it the Dutch side are doing well in Eredivise, sitting sixth in the table but dig a little deeper and you’ll find that 10 of their 16 point haul has come against teams in the bottom five of the table. They’ve only managed nine goals in their opening nine games, only four teams have scored fewer.
Spurs don’t have that problem and if Nuno Espírito Santo goes with a strong line up they should have too much firepower.
