IT’S all about Serie A on Thursday after Liverpool’s request to have their Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal postponed, granted.
The first leg of the tie will now be at Anfield next Thursday and the second leg at Emirates Stadium on 20 January as the fixtures pile up for both sides.
Over in Italy however, it’s full steam ahead as Serie A returns from it’s winter break with a full round of fixtures. Teams haven’t played since December 22nd when Inter Milan cemented their lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Torino.
It’s Inter who kick-off a brilliant day of action which sees two games kick-off simultaneously at 11.30, 1.30, 3.30, 5.30 and 7.45 and they’ll ALL live on BT Sport.
If you’re tuning in for Bologna v Inter keep an eye out for Aaron Hickey. The young Scottish full-back scored a cracker in his last match to make it four for the season and he’s 20/1 to break the deadlock in the early kick-off.
It’ll be a tough ask for ANY Bologna player to score against an Inter side that’s kept seven clean sheets in their last eight games – Real Madrid being the only side to score against them in that spell.
On current form an Inter win should be a safe bet at 4/9, while a win to nil for the champions looks inviting at 6/4.
An early double could be on the cards as the other 11.30 start sees Sampdoria host a Cagliari side that’s one just once all season and picked up only three points from 27 on the road. Samp are unbeaten in four and backable at 17/20.
The best place for goals could be in Rome where Lazio and Empoli meet. There’s been 27 goals scored in Lazio’s last six league matches and they boast the highest goals per game ratio in Serie A with 3.84 goals scored per game. Empoli are joint second on that list with 3.37.
Match of the day could be in Milan where second-placed AC welcome in-form Roma to the San Siro (5.30pm). Milan suffered a few wobbles in December but they’ve a good record in this fixture, losing just one of the last seven meetings between the sides. Both teams are in decent goalscoring form and drew 3-3 when they last met at the San Siro. Over 2.5 pays 8/11.
In 190 Serie A games so far this season only 34 (less than 2%) have seen fewer than two goals. That makes Skybet’s 13/2 on there being Over 1.5 Goals in each match worth a small punt.
