With just two points separating three teams, tonight could be pivotal in the relegation battle at the foot of the Premier League.
Leeds United must sit tight and watch things unfold as Everton and Burnley try to win the points that’ll preserve their top flight status.
A win for the Toffees at home to Crystal Palace and they’d be safe. Simple as that.
Sunday’s defeat to Brentford was a sore one to take having led twice in the game, but Frank Lampard’s side can pick themselves up and climb to safety with a raucous Goodison Park right behind them.
That loss was only their second in seven games and they’ve really rolled their sleeves and fought for their Prtemier League lives.
Palace themselves have been in good form and are in unbeaten in four. They could yet sneak in to a top half finish with a couple of wins but it’s a fixture the Merseysiders enjoy and have only tasted defeat once in the last 14 league meetings between the sides.
They can keep that run going with another vital win in what could be a memorable night for the Bluenoses.
On paper Burnley have a tougher assignment against an Aston Villa side that beat them just over a week ago. The Clarets followed up that defeat with another loss to Spurs on Sunday and they must fear they’re running out of steam.
Burnley host Newcastle on Sunday and they may feel that a win against the Magpies is their best chance of survival, especially given their away record that has seen them win only twice in 18 road trips.
Like Palace, Villa don’t have too much left to play for but they’ve won 19 points from a possible 24 against teams currently in the bottom five. Steven Gerrard’s side have scored in 15 of 18 home matches this season and scored two or more in 11 of their 13 wins this season. Backing them to score two or more at even money could be the best bet here.
