World Cup qualifiers in Asia and South America, alongside the African Cup of Nations have left teams across Europe without some of their star players and plenty of them will be in international action over the next few days.
The CONMEBOL region resumes this evening, with Brazil’s visit to Ecuador, kick-off 9pm, live on Premier Sports. The 5-time World Cup winners have already booked their place at Qatar so it’ll be interesting to see if they take their foot off the gas or if they’ll be keen to make it an unbeaten qualification campaign.
Ecuador sit third in the ten-team qualification table and will fancy their chances in Quito where the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado stands 2,734 metres above sea level. That’s probably the greatest home advantage of any team in the world and unsurprisingly Ecuador have won 70% of their points on home soil.
Tolu has previewed the match for us and has very definite opinion on how it will pan out so it’s worth a read if you fancy a bet on the game.
The African Cup of Nations has reached the quarter-finals stages and Senegal remain favourites to lift the trophy at 33/10 (888Sport) with hosts Cameroon not far behind on 7/2 (SpreadEx).
Egypt’s win on penalties over Ivory Coast booked their place in the next round and Mo Salah and co will face Morocco next. Shout out to Macca who tipped both of today’s games to be decided on penalties at 26/1. 👏
The last-eight matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday so keep an eye out for Tolu’s match previews.
There’s not too much to get excited about on Thursday so we’re already looking ahead to the weekend.
