FOUR Scottish teams are in Europen action on a busy night of football across the continent.
The Europa League isn’t where Celtic want to be but it’s their consolation for yet another early exit from the Champions League, resulting in a trip to Czech Republic for a tie with FK Jablonec where Ange Postecoglu will be looking for his first win as the Hoops’ boss.
Hearts capitalised on Celtic’s defensive vulnerability at the weekend but the Bhoys have added former England no.1 Joe Hart to the ranks and the 75-time capped ‘keeper will go straight in to the starting XI to address what’s been a problem position for the Celts.
The two-time Premier League winner is 13/8 (Bet365) to keep a clean sheet on his debut but the Hoops are in the midst of a 8-match run of games without a win away from home so punters would need some convincing to back them at 19/20 to take a first leg lead back to Celtic Park. St Johnstone‘s reward for winning the Scottish Cup in May is a mouthwatering tie with Turkish giants Galatasaray. The 22-time SuperLig champions may not be the force they once were but they still boast a squad that includes the likes of Falcao (who may not be there much longer!), Turan and Babel who have played at the highest level as well as a sprinkling of well-traveled and experienced pros.
The Saintees are 11/1 to pull off a huge shock. They’re never really a team that scores a lot of goals and they drew blank at Ross County at the weekend so will do well to get in the scoresheet in Turkey. With that in mind we’ll return to a bet that served us well and back Galatasaray to Score Over 1 Goal and St Johnstone to Score Under 1 Goal which pays 6/4 on a Bet365 BetBuilder.
Hibs and Aberdeen continue their Europa Conference adventure on Thursday. The Hibees have a tricky looking tie against Croatian side HNK Rijeka. There could be goals at Easter Road, where Jack Ross’ side will need to try and get a first leg lead, this could leave them vulnerable at the back so BTTS appeals at 5/6.
Iceland is Aberdeen‘s destination to face Breidablik. The Dons have started the season well and blew Swedish side, Hacken, away in the girst leg of the previous round. Stephen Glass will need to take a more pragmatic approach this time round and will look to keep things tight before next week’s return leg at Pittodrie. The Dons are even money to win but if all goes to plan this will be a low scoring affair and Under 2.5 Goals can also be backed at 1/1.
