Ange Postecoglou’s quest for a first trophy as Celtic manager continues tonight when he Hoops host Championship side Raith Rovers.
The Aussie’s honeymoon period is on borrowed time after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Livingston on Sunday so anything other than progression to the semi-finals would be a disaster for the Bhoys.
Despite some dodgy results away from home they’ve been blowing away domestic opposition at Celtic Park, scoring 18 in four home games against Scottish opposition.
Equally impressive has been Celtic’s corner count in those games (11-3, 14-1, 15-0 & 7-0) and against inferior opposition tonight we should see some more high numbers from the Hoops despite the continued absence of the influential Kyogo and McGregor.
Skybet go 5/6 for 8+ Celtic corners and 11/8 for 9+. On the Handicap it’s Celtic -5 at 5/4 with the same firm, but a safer play looks to be with Bet365 where we can get evens on the Asian Corners Handicap at -5.0, meaning we have the added insurance of our money back if Celtic win exactly 5 more than Raith.
Tonight’s other Scottish League Cup match is at Tannadice where Dundee Utd and Hibernian battle it out for a place in the semi-final.
Hibs are 7/10 to qualify but United will be in confident mood after their victory in the Dundee Derby at the weekend. This looks a banana-skin of a match for the Hibees and it could be one that goes the distance. 5/1 for the game to be decided on penalties might not be the worst bet of the night.
Barcelona don’t have their troubles to seek at the moment and find themselves eighth in La Liga having played a couple of games less than most of the teams around them.
A humbling 3-0 loss to Bayern in the Champions League followed by a 1-1 draw with Granada has piled the pressure on Ronald Koeman, who’s tenure in the Nou Camp hotseat is reportedly drawing to a close.
Priced at just 1/2 to win in Cadiz it would take a brave man to be backing a a vulnerable looking Barca at those odds. Cadiz have scored in four of their five La Liga games so far and won the last time the two sides met at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, before drawing at the Nou Camp in February. They’re just 8/15 to find the net this time so there’s not much value there but it’s 3/4 on Both Teams to Score and that could be a profitable route.
