It was another happy trip up to Chester last weekend! It is fast becoming my lucky hunting ground and Devious Angel and Fools Rush In both won well. I also had a winner this week at Brighton for David Simcock. Fingers crossed the winning formula continues into the weekend…
FRIDAY – Newbury
2:45 – SECRET SHADOW
I have won this race before. SECRET SHADOW 8/1
has been very progressive for Andrew Balding and is improving all the time. She showed a great attitude to win under Oisin Murphy on her latest start and she should relish this step up in trip. It looks like a race which has plenty of similar unexposed types but I’m looking forward to riding my filly.
SATURDAY – Newbury
2:25 – SCARAMANGA
A rare ride for the Champion National Hunt trainer, Paul Nicholls! Sadly, for his daughter Megan, she is banned so I have picked up a nice-looking spare ride in the valuable Bahrain Turf Series Handicap. SCARAMANGA 9/1
hasn’t been seen since the back end of the jump’s season last year where he won two handicap hurdles. His form on the flat is pretty good and he has what looks like a nice handicap mark.
3:40 – SYMPHONY PERFECT
I won on SYMPHONY PERFECT 16/1
at Bath on her latest start. She’s a filly with loads of speed and she looks the right type for a race like this. It’s obviously a very hard race to win with plenty of these looking ‘well in at the weights’, but we have a nice draw and Richard Hannon has an incredible record in this race.
4:10 – SERENADING
SERENADING SP
will really appreciate the galloping track at Newbury. The extra furlong will also suit her. James’ horses are starting to come right and she looks a nice ride to pick up in what looks a typically hot Newbury handicap.
5:20 – ROGUE FORCE
I’ve ridden ROGUE FORCE SP
at home and he goes well. He is another that likes it here at Newbury. He looked to run a lot better on his last start here with a hood on and he has the use of that again. He hasn’t got the sexiest profile of all of these in the race but he should have an each-way chance.
Stay safe,
Hayley!
