Arsenal were largely untroubled in last week’s London Derby, today they face another huge hurdle in their quest for the Premier League title when Manchester United call at the Emirates.
The Gunners are eight points clear of United with two games in hand but more importantly five ahead of Manchester City with one game in hand. They don’t want to give City any encouragement so nothing less than a win will do today.
Man United missed the opportunity the temporarily overtake rivals City when they conceded late at Crystal Palace on Wednesday and that might’ve taken the wind out of their sails a little.
As impressive as United’s recent run of results have been they’ve not been particularly easy on the eye and you feel there’s still a bit of fragility about them. It’s been Arsenal that have set the standard this season and boss Mikel Arteta has them purring at the moment.
Money seems to have come for the league leaders who have been backed in to 17/20 at Bet365 but they’re still 10/11 at SBK for the three points. To score two or more they’re also best best-prices at SBK at 4/5.
Just three weeks after the last one we’ve another Edinburgh Derby to look forward to, this time a place in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup is at stake. Hearts were comfortable 3-0 winners when the sides met at the start of the year and they’ve followed that up by taking another seven points from nine including a 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen in midweek.
Hibs have responded well to that defeat too, largely thanks to on-fire Kevin Nesbit. The Scottish Internationalist has scored all of Hibs’ last five goals and a total of seven in his last six. Both he and Lawrence Shankland are 6/4 to find the net today. The Hearts striker is now on 18 league goals for the season, benefiting from the nine penalties awarded to the Jam Tarts so far.
As expected, Hearts are quickly establishing themselves as the clear best-of-the-rest in Scotland and if they turn up should continue their dominance over Hibs – they’re unbeaten in 8 (W4 D4) – at 6/4.
