Viktor Hovland and Rory McIlroy will be the last pairing out at St Andrew’s this afternoon after they manoeuvred their way to the top of the leaderboard with a commanding four shot lead ahead of the chasing pack.
Both shot brilliant six-under par 66s on Saturday to move to -16 with Cameron Smith and Cameron Young both leading the rest of the field on -12.
It looks like we’re all set for a thrilling head-to-head in the final round. McIlroy who was tipped by The Caddy pre-tournament at 10/1 is now the 10/11 favourite to win his first major in eight years while Hovland is rated a 13/8 chance. Beyond that you can have Cameron Smith at 12s, Scottie Scheffler at 20/1 and Cameron Young at 22/1.
Best of luck if you’ve backed McIlory this weekend. If our Fantasy Golf competition is anything to go by then that could be a fair few of you. Over half of you picked the Irishman in your three man team.
@titchsloan leads the way going in to the final round on -38 with his trio of players (McIlroy, Smith, Johnson), closely followed by The Master who has Spieth instead of Johnson.

Today’s live match in the Scottish League Cup should be an intriguing one. Bonnyrigg Rose gained promotion to the SPFL last season and announced their arrival in this season’s cup competition with a win over League One side on Wednesday.
Today they host Premiership side Hibs who suffered defeat at the hands of Falkirk, another League One side, in midweek. New Hibs boss Lee Johnson looks to have made some good additions to his squad in the Summer but that defeat on Tuesday was a wake-up call early in to his regime and has piled some early pressure on to him ahead of this afternoon’s match.
SlipsTips has maked the visitors out for a win however and has found a couple of angles of attack in his match preview.
Today’s Super Single comes from the Eliterserien in Norway where Rosenborg look well priced to win at Aalesund. The hosts gained promotion from OBOS-Ligaen last season and have arguably over-performed in the first half of the season. They find themselves in seventh place, two positions behind today’s opponents.
They’ve picked up a very respectable 20 points so far but have lost all four games against top four teams. Rosenborg currently sit in fifth and have lost just one of their last eight so 7/4 looks a fair price for the visitors who have a game or two in hand on the teams above them and could still force their way in to the title race.
