England cruised in to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 with a ruthless 4-0 win over Ukraine to set up a showdown with Denmark for a place in the final next Sunday.
The Danes themselves threatened to blow away Czech Republic after racing to a 2-0 half-time lead but ended up hanging on for a 2-1 win to keep their fairytale dreams alive.
They’ll provide a sterner test for England than Ukraine who looked well out of their depth. The Three Lions were rampant in Rome and will be bouyant after that dishing out a thrashing Andrei Shevchenko’s side.
Outright Odds
Gareth Southgate’s men are now 6/4 favourites at Bet365 to be crowned champions of Europe. Denmark are 9/1 outsiders of the four semi-finalists with Italy at 9/4 and Spain 11/4.
An England v Italy final pays 11/8 if you fancy the two favourites to progress from the semis.
Top Goalscorer
Harry Kane’s two goals moved him to three for the tournament. That leaves him two goals behind Patrick Schick and Cristiano Ronaldo, both on five goals, but no longer in the competition. They’re both priced at 7/4 (dead heat rules will apply) but if you fanc Kane to score two or more in the rest of the tournement then he can be backed at 7/2. Raheem Sterling (10/1) and Denmark’s Kasper Dolberg (33/1) are the other two players currently on three goals and still with the chance of adding to their tallies.
Player of the Tournament
Sterling is clear favourite to be crowned Player of the Tournemant at 7/2 whilst teammate Harry Kane is 9/1. Danish captain Simon Kjaer has had a fantastic tournament and shown real leadership, he’s second favourite in the betting at 8/1.
Despite turning in some impressive performances the Italians seem to have been overlooked with Lorenzo Insigne shortest price at 12/1. Jorginho and Immobile are both 20/1 and Bonucci 25/1 so there could be some value there.
Sergio Busquets is the leading Spaniard in the betting at 16/1 and is the only real contender from Spain at this stage.
It’s hard to beleive that we’ve just three games left at Euro 2020 but the good news is that the Domestic football season kicks-off this week in Scotland with Kelty Hearts v Dundee Utd live in the Premier Sports Cup on Friday night!
Sunday’s action comes in the early hours from the MLS and in the Copa America where a Messi-inspired Argentina will be aiming to book a semi-final place against Ecuador.
