Managerless Aston Villa begin life after Steven Gerrard looking for a win over mid-table Brentford.
Caretaker boss Aaron Danks, former assistant manager to Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht, will oversee things for the home side and it’s very possible we’ll see a reaction to Gerrard’s departure from the players. That Villa squad is full of quality players but they’ve massively underperformed under their old boss so maybe a new voice and change of direction will see them up their game.
Visitors Brentford have done their best work at home, picking up 11 of their 14 points on their own turf. They were thumped 5-1 at Newcastle on their last road trip but they’ve found the net in four of their five away games and in Ivan Toney have the league’s third top scorer on eight goals.
There could be goals in this one. BTTS is 3/4, while Over 2.5 is 10/11.
Antonio Conte must wish he could play all his matches in North London. His side have a perfect record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, played five, won five, and today the welcome Newcastle who could move in to the top four with a win.
The Magpies are unbeaten in six and have lost just once all season, so we should be in for a fascinating 90 minutes. Eddie Howe will again be without the influential Allan Saint-Maximin and he could be a big loss.
Spurs have proven they can be as good as anyone on their day, especially at home and in Kane, Son and Richarlison have one of the most potent front lines in the Premier League. They be a difficult team to trust at times but that home record can’t be ignored and the 21/20 on them picking up the three points looks worth taking on.
To do so they may need to score two or more so the even money on them to net at least twice also appeals.
Arsenal can extend their lead back to four points with a win at Southampton. The Gunners have been terrific so far and you can’t see them undoing their brilliant start to the season with defeat at St Mary’s. At 4/7 they look good acca material.
There’s also a Dutch Double that catches the eye today. Arsenal’s midweek opponents PSV should bounce back with a win at Groningen who sit 15th in the table and AZ can pick up the three points away to Excelsior. The hosts have already lost 7-1 to Ajax and 6-1 to PSV this season. The Double pays just over 4/5 at Bet365. Add in the Gunners to make up a Treble at 185/100.
