The wait is almost over. For England tonight could end 55 “years of hurt”, for Italy it could be a first major international trophy since 2006.
At 8pm the talking stops and the final chapter at Euro 2020 will be written on the pitch.
Home advantage could be crucial for England with 60,000 fans in attendance at Wembley but the Italians won’t be phased by playing at the home of English football, after all this will be their third match there after wins over Austria and Spain en route to the final.
The Italians will be popular with punters outside England, being as big as 21/10 with William Hill to win inside the 90 minutes and even money to lift the trophy. There’ll be plenty of English fans piling in to the Three Lions as well at 13/8 (Bet365) and 4/5 to be crowned European Champions.
Roberto Mancini has already spoken of the need to nullify Raheem Sterling, England’s ace in the pack at Euro 2020 but there’s threats from several angles within the England squad. Harry Kane needs two cup final goals to claim the top scorer prize and he’s 10/3 to do so. Sterling, on three tournament goals is 20/1 to finish top of the goalscoring charts.
Seven of the 14 knock-out games at the tournament have gone to extra-time with three of those requiring penalty kicks to separate the sides. With so much at stake it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see this one go the distance. It’s just 4/1 for the destination of the trophy to be determied via penalties. An extra-time vistory for either side is 5/1.
No doubt everyone will have their own opinion on how the final will unfold but rather than predict the outcome SlipsTips has constructued a BetBuilder that pays 21/20 and identified a player likely to pick up a card at 4/1 in his match preview.

Copa America
For early birds there’s a nice appetiser in the shape of the Copa America final, live on BBC One at 1am. It’s a match where something has to give; Argentina are unbeaten in 19 games, while Brazil have not lost since Argentina beat them in friendly back in November 2019.
Much like England, the Brazilians have home advantage at the Maracana stadium – a bone of contention after the tournament was switched from Argentina and Colombia late in the day. Amazingly, the Argentinians haven’t won the competition since 1993, their last major honour which means Lionel Messi is still chasing his first piece of international silverware.
An Argentina win inside 90 minutes is 3/1 at Bet365 which makes Brazil 11/10 favourites. Tite’s side are 1/2 to claim the title and La Albiceleste are 13/8.
Lionel Messi looks a certainty to finish top scorer (3/10), he’s tied on four goals with Colombia’s Luis Díaz with two Brazilians, Neymar (40/1) and Lucas Paquetá (100/1) on two goals, the only players looking capable of catching him.
Tolu nails his colours to the mast for the final in his Copa America match preview and is expecting an entertaining match.
For Greg it’s all about Norway on Sunday. He’s got a Bet of the Day Double that involves Eliteserien and OBOS Ligaen which pays 6/4.
