Spurs to Leave Chelsea Feeling Blue

29/11/2020 admin

The Premier League continues on Sunday with a further three games lined up, with Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to London rivals Chelsea the standout fixture.

Both capital outfits have their sights set on the top of the standings after making a fine start to the term.

The Blues start Sunday’s round of fixtures sitting third and three points adrift of leaders Liverpool, who picked up just a point on Saturday following a 1-1 draw at Brighton.

Frank Lampard’s side boast a far superior goal difference to the Reds and will leapfrog the defending champions if they seal victory at Stamford Bridge, which is priced at 6/5.

Blues Aim for Seventh Straight

They are unbeaten in ten matches across all competitions, winning each of their last six and haven’t tasted defeat in the league since losing to Liverpool in September.

Spurs, meanwhile, are one place and two points better off than their opponents and a draw would be enough to move them to the summit.

Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly be keen to pick up all three points at the home of one of his former employers as they look to open up a two point gap at the top.

Spurs’ recent form is also hugely impressive, losing just once in their last 17 across all competitions, while they haven’t tasted defeat in the league since falling 1-0 at home to Everton on the opening day.

The London rivals are the top two teams in the form table when looking over the past five league outings, Spurs sealing 13 points from a possible 15 to top the charts.

Lampard Targets Former Boss

Lampard, who played under Mourinho at Chelsea, boasts an impressive record against the Portuguese since stepping into management.

Chelsea won home and away against Spurs last season, becoming the first team ever to achieve that feat against a Mourinho-managed team in a single league campaign.

Mourinho also came away on the wrong side of the results when Lampard led Derby to a famous victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2018.

However, Spurs look to offer the value in this clash with Mansion Bet offering 12/5 for the visitors to pick up a victory.

The north London club put on a tactical masterclass to beat Manchester City 2-0 last time out in the league and Mourinho is getting a solid tune out of his troops.

They appear to be fully on board with his philosophy and should have all the tools to frustrate and nullify Chelsea on Sunday.

Saints Can Frustrate Solskjaer’s Men

Southampton welcome Manchester United to St Mary’s in the opening game of the day at 14:00 and their recent exploits suggest an upset could be on the cards.

It could be argued that Saints picking up a win isn’t even that much of an upset when considering they sit fifth and United are down in 13th.

After a slow start to the term, the hosts are unbeaten in seven league games and have left behind last season’s issues on home soil.

United are moving in the right direction once again, having lost back-to-back games at the start of November, and they travel to the south coast on a three-game winning streak.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will be fresher due to United’s commitments in Europe in midweek and they are priced at 53/20 to win this clash.

Backing Saints in the double chance market at 20/23 could be the way to go after both of last season’s meetings in the league ended all square.

Goals at a Premium in Emirates Clash

Two of the lowest scoring sides in the division meet at 19:15 when Wolves head to the Emirates to take on Arsenal.

Both sides have found goals hard to come by this term, both netting on just nine occasions and Sunday’s clash looks set to be a tight affair.

The last six editions of this fixture in north London have seen exactly two goals scored, with the last three finishing 1-1, therefore, backing under 2.5 goals at 20/33 looks tempting.
