The North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal is the highlight in the Premier League on Sunday, while Liverpool and Leicester are also in action.
Spurs host their local rivals knowing a win would seriously underline their title credentials. Jose Mourinho’s men were top of the table before a ball was kicked in the top flight this weekend and can claim another big victory that might just force the Portuguese coach to rethink his assessment that his side are not in the mix for the top prize his season
Contrasting Form for North London’s Big Boys
Following an opening-day defeat to Everton, Tottenham have barely looked back and have the aura of a team who can challenge in this the most hectic of seasons.
The 1/1 on offer for a home win considering the respective sides’ contrasting form, seems generous. The Gunners have been dismal of late and are without a win in the league in their last three.
This derby often produces drama and plenty of goals. There have been over three goals in three of the last four meetings and, considering Spurs are the second-highest scorers so far this season with 21, a punt on over 2.5 goals at 20/21 also appeals.
Blades Looking to Further Dent Foxes’ Confidence
Earlier on Sunday, the Foxes will be aiming to put their recent poor form behind them when they go to rock-bottom Sheffield United.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were shocked by Fulham on Monday, losing 2-1, and they followed that up with a 1-0 loss against minnows Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Thursday, although Rodgers made plenty of changes as his side had already qualified.
The 11/4 for a home win is attractive, not least because the Blades have to get a win on the board sooner rather than later and with Leicester out of form, Sunday could be the day.
Chris Wilder’s side have been better than some of their results have shown so far and they can take advantage of a low-in-confidence Leicester and finally pick up all three points.
Wolves Set to Trouble Reds
The final game on Sunday sees in-form Wolves go to champions Liverpool, looking to build on their impressive win at Arsenal last time out.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be without key striker Raul Jimenez following his head injury and that does diminish their chances of becoming the first team to beat the Reds at Anfield in the league in over thee and a half years. However, they can cause Liverpool, who still have plenty of injury concerns, problems.
Predicting an away win seems a bit of a stretch, but Wolves can secure a big point, on offer at 3/1, in their quest for at least a top-six finish this term.
On Monday it’s a south coast derby of sorts between Brighton and Southampton, and this should also be a tight affair. Brighton are 29/20 to win and that looks the way to go as the Seagulls aim to build on last weekend’s deserved point at home to Liverpool.
