KevMac takes a closer look at today’s action in the lower league in Scotland
East Fife v Falkirk
BETTING against Falkirk has been profitable for punters in recent weeks with the Bairns lurching from crisis to crisis in League One.
I cashed in by backing Queen’s Park and Cove to beat them in the last two weeks but Falkirk might get a lift from their new coaching team of Martin Rennie and Kenny Miller.
The Bairns head to East Fife today looking to end a four-game losing streak and are lucky to face a team in even worse form.
The Methil men have gone six without a win so I reckon Rennie and Miller could get off to a flier.
Falkirk are 6/5 with Mansionbet for a win and that could be worth a punt as they still have some decent players for this level of football.
Cove’s 3-0 win last weekend kept them top of the pile and Paul Hartley’s men face Alloa at home today.
It ended 3-1 to Cove when these sides faced off at the Indodrill as Rory McAllister netted a treble.
He’s just 8/11 (McBookie) for another goal today but backing Cove to score in each half is better at 5/4 with SkyBet.
Kilmarnock v Dunfermline
In the Championship, Kilmarnock boss Tommy Wright desperately needs a win at home to Dunfermline after three defeats on the spin in the league.
The fans are far from happy after watching the pre-season title favourites drop down to fourth.
A lack of firepower has hurt them in recent weeks with all those defeats coming by a single goal.
Oli Shaw was scoring for fun earlier in the campaign but has now drawn a blank in his last five.
That’s mainly down to a lack of service with the former Hibs and Ross County hitman cutting a frustrated figure.
He’s still a quality striker though and Shaw appeals for a goal today at 13/10 with McBookie.
Inverness v Hamilton
Leaders Inverness should be too strong for Hamilton in the Highlands and they are a best 31/40 (Betway) to win.
Caley Thistle hit six at Morton last weekend and backing them to score over 1.5 goals here pays 11/10 at William Hill.
Partick Thistle v Raith Rovers
It’s now 15 games without defeat for Raith but they face a tough test away to Partick.
I can see this being quite a tight game so the half-time draw appeals at 11/10 (McBookie).
Arbroath v Morton
Arbroath have also gone nine unbeaten and should extend that run against hapless Morton.
Backing Dick Campbell’s men to be winning at half-time and full-time pays 7/4 with Boylesports.
Queen of the South v Ayr Utd
There’s a big game at the bottom as Queen of the South host Ayr and I fancy the Doonhamers at 7/5 with William Hill.
