THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk. Last week’s winner will be named later.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish league and cup games only – for a chance to win.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections.
He says: “It is the Scottish Cup quarter-finals this weekend but I must admit none of the prices grabbed me as being especially good value, so I am starting this week’s column in the Championship with the surprise package of the division.
“Pre-season Arbroath were McBookie’s favourites to finish bottom of the table but entering the final third of the season the Red Lichties find themselves in fifth position and a win at third-placed Dundee on Saturday would see them leapfrog their opponents.
“And yet bookies are still underestimating the work Dick Campbell is doing at Gayfield because despite winning their last three league games – one of them away to Dundee United – Arbroath are 10-3 for their visit to Dens Park.
“Arbroath’s Dale Hilson might not be the tallest striker in the division but certainly knows where the goal is and joined Arbroath on a free in the transfer window.
“Hilson scored on his fourth start in the 2-0 win over Queen of the South a couple of weekends ago and is 8-1 with McBookie to score the first goal on Saturday.
“The second selection is in League One where Airdrie get the award for the tightest defence in the past month. The Diamonds have played five league games since January 25 and conceded just a solitary goal in seven-and-a-half hours’ football.
“That is some going and back-to-back league wins have seen them move up to third in the table four points behind leaders, Raith Rovers.
“On Saturday they travel to fifth-placed Montrose, who are in good form themselves, having won four of their last six – losing to Raith and Falkirk in the other two.
“Bookies have the home side favourites but I would have it the other way around. Dunfermline striker Andy Ryan joined Airdrie on loan in the window and it hasn’t taken him long to find his feet, scoring back to-back goals in their last two wins.
“In Ryan’s first spell with Airdrie he scored an incredible 24 goals from 34 league appearances and yet is 13-2 with McBookie to score the game’s first goal on Saturday.
“Finally, in League Two Annan ended a run of six straight defeats with a 2-1 home win over Albion Rovers but I wouldn’t go anywhere near the 11-4 about them to repeat the trick and win away at Queen’s Park.
“The Spiders are my tip to go up through the play-offs and I fully expect them to win on Saturday. Salim Kouider-Aisser is the man for goals at Queen’s Park with 16 already to his name this season and he is 10-3 with McBookie to grab his 17th with the first goal.@
