THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk. Austin Hay was last week’s winner with Darryl Duffy and he has been emailed.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish league games only – for a chance to win.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections abd remember he’s had winners at 12-1, 6-1 and 9-2 on the past two Saturdays.
He says: “A 12-1 winner two weeks ago was followed with a great Saturday for the column last weekend with 6-1 and 9-2 winners in Darryl Duffy and Chris Long for a 37.5-1 double. And I almost pulled off the treble as Martin Boyle scored for Hibs, but not sadly the opener.
“I mentioned last week this is a great time to punt on Scottish football because of the comings and goings in the transfer window that just don’t seem to get picked up by the bookies.
“And League Two’s Stenhousemuir are in case in point having snapped up Greig Spence from Championship side Arbroath among other signings.
“Spence made an immediate impact scoring the opening goal and then the winner in Stenny’s 3-2 away win at Elgin.
“Callum Moore, on loan from Dundee, is one of six new faces at Ochilview this month and most from higher divisions. So now looks a great time to be with the Warriors until the bookies catch up.
“Luckily, we get an acid test of their new level of form with the visit of second-placed Edinburgh City. Bookies have the Citizens as 8-11 favourites with Stenny at a generous looking 31-10.
“As a result Spence can be backed at a massive 8-1 with McBookie which looks fantastic value to these eyes.
“In League One Peterhead have lost their goal machine Rory McAllister and now might be a time for them to struggle.
“The Blue Toon had already lost six of their last eight matches prior to his departure and, with goals likely to be in short supply there, I would not want to take the evens about them beating Dumbarton on Saturday.
“The Sons put in a terrific effort away to Aberdeen last weekend in the Scottish Cup, losing out to an 86th-minute penalty.
“Callum Wilson joined Dumbarton from Partick Thistle last week and was in the starting 11 against the Dons. The midfielder looks overpriced at 22-1 with McBookie to score the opening goal.
“The knives were out for Derek McInnes on Wednesday evening following Aberdeen’s home defeat to Motherwell that saw the Dons drop four points behind Well in the Premiership.
“Aberdeen have really been struggling for goals of late and have scored just six from their last seven games and within that run is their 1-0 home win over League One Dumbarton.
“On Saturday they travel to face St Mirren and I like the look of the Buddies at 12-5 after the Paisley men kept Rangers down to a single goal in midweek.
“Jonathan Obika has scored seven goals this season and netted two a couple of games ago in the Cup. He is 11-2 with McBookie to open the scoring.”
