THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk. There were no winners last week.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish league games only – for a chance to win.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections.
He says: “I thought there was little edge for me in the Championship games this weekend so I am starting in League One where Montrose look great value at odds against away to bottom club Stranraer.
“I always try to price up games myself before looking at the bookmakers’ odds and I had the Gable Endies at 8-13 for their trip to Stair Park while the bookies have them at evens.
“Montrose have won 10 of their last 13 league games, losing to just Falkirk and Raith during that period and drawing away to Peterhead.
“That sensational run has taken them all the way up to fourth in table six points off top having languished at the bottom in late September.
“Stranraer now occupy that spot and their last league win was back on November 2 and before that on August 17.
“They look a horrible price at just 11-5 to register their just their third league win of the season.
“I have successfully tipped Montrose to win so many times during their great run but never managed to get a first goalscorer for them.
“Hopefully, Graham Webster can turn the tide. The midfielder has scored seven goals from his last 14 games and is 7-1 with McBookie to grab the opener.
“Staying in League One and Forfar, who won five of their first six games this season, look worth taking on at home to leaders Raith Rovers.
“Since that heady start they have won just three of their next 21 games in all competitions and plummeted to secon bottom of the table.
“Two of those recent league wins were against Stranraer who as we know are bottom and Peterhead who are joint third bottom.
“Raith Rovers are 3-4 to win this game but again I would have them much shorter at 8-15 or 1-2.
“James Gullan will play his final game after being recalled early by Hibs after scoring 10 times from just 18 appearances.
“That is a fantastic goals-to-games ratio for the 20-year-old striker and with his side likely to be all over Forfar I think the 5-1 with McBookie about him scoring the first goal is seriously overpriced.
“Finally, in League Two just two points separate leaders Cove Rangers with second-placed Edinburgh City but the bookies tend to price Cove much, much shorter than the Citizens.
“I can’t imagine Cove would be 4-7 at home to seventh-placed Queen’s Park, they would be nearer 2-7 or 1-4 based on recent prices about them.
“Yet that is the price being offered about an Edinburgh City side that have won five on the bounce, including a 2-1 defeat of Cove during that run.
“And I am going to take a chance by tipping Citizens defender Liam Henderson for the first goal, not their goal machine Blair Henderson.
“Henderson (Liam that is) has been on fire recently scoring four goals from his last four games, including both in that win over Cove. McBookie have him at 12-1 to score the first goal of the game.”
