THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish league games only – for a chance to win. Last week’s winner was Alan McCloy who was one of many to go with Hibs’ Christian Doidge at 4-1.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections.
He says: “It’s the League Cup Final this weekend between Celtic and Rangers and there is a cup final of sorts in the Premiership as second-bottom Hamilton host St Mirren who are at the foot.
“And I am tipping the Accies to be the ones coming out with three points following their late defeat to Celtic in midweek. It is more the form of the Buddies on the road that has attracted me to this match as St Mirren have lost eight out of eight on their travels in the Premiership scoring just five goals and conceding 17.
“Yet bookies make them 6-4 favourites with the home side 9-5 outsiders.
“The Accies have done all their winning this season at home so it was encouraging to see them limit league leaders Celtic to just five shots on target at Celtic Park in midweek – the same number they managed themselves.
“Provided that effort hasn’t left its mark I think they should inflict another away defeat on St Mirren.
“Accies striker Mickel Miller has scored two goals from his last six games and is 15-2 with McBookie to open the scoring.
“Returning to the big game of the weekend and I wonder how much that 2-2 midweek draw away to Aberdeen has taken out of Rangers both physically and mentally.
“Rangers were cruising at 2-0 up with the home side having a dreadful first half an hour but somehow the Dons got their way back into it and picked up a vital point.
“So I do wonder how that game so close to Sunday’s final will have damaged Rangers. Celtic, on the other hand, will be buoyant after Scott Brown grabbed an injury-time winner following Hamilton’s late equaliser.
“I think Celtic will win inside 90 minutes and Ryan Christie has been the man for the big occasion this season both for club and country – scoring an impressive 17 goals from 34 matches. He is 6-1 with McBookie to score the first goal of the Final.
“In League One Airdrie are the form team, winning six games on the bounce in a run that has taken them to the top of the table.
“On Saturday they travel to face second-placed Raith Rovers in a huge game and the bookies have the home side as favourites.
“I would have it the other way around with the Diamonds slight market leaders as they beat Falkirk away last month and have been free-scoring of late while Raith have scored just two goals from their last three games.
“Airdrie striker Dale Carrick has hit a rich vein of form with seven goals from his last nine matches including two in the 4-0 win over East Fife last weekend. Despite that great form McBookie have him chalked up at 15-2 to score the game’s first goal.”
