Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections.
He says: The Championship relegation dogfight has sucked in five clubs and McBookie’s betting on who will finish bottom reads as follows: Evens – Falkirk, 7-2 – Alloa, 9-2 – Partick Thistle, 5-1 Queen of the South and 9-1 Morton.
Just four points separate the five clubs and there is a huge game on Saturday when third-bottom Alloa entertain Queen of the South, who are fourth bottom in the table, but have the same points as the Wasps.
The Bookies make the Doonhamers the 6-4 favourites with Alloa outsiders at 7-4 but I think they have the wrong favourites for this game.
A few weeks ago Alloa were 2-5 to finish bottom of the pile in the Championship but have hauled themselves off the foot of the table with three straight wins over Ross County, Falkirk and Morton.
By contrast Saturday’s opponents Queen of the South have lost one and drawn their other two games from their last three matches and have lost 40-goal hotshot Stephen Dobbie for the rest of the season.
I fancy Alloa to make it four wins on the bounce and take a massive step towards their Championship survival.
Alloa striker Dario Zanatta went on an 11-game barren run before scoring crucial back-to-back goals in the wins over Ross County and Falkirk.
The 21-year-old is on loan from Hearts and gaining valuable match experience at Alloa. McBookie make him 15-2 to open the scoring which seems a decent price.
In League One there is a huge game for the final play-off place with fourth-placed East Fife on 45 points at home to Montrose in fifth who have 44 points.
I flagged up East Fife the other week as having gone into freefall – the Fifers have won just one of their last 11 league games.
Montrose, on the other hand, have put themselves into a decent position to challenge for the play-offs having won three of their last four games – the other match a 1-0 defeat away to champions-elect Arbroath.
Just like with the Alloa game I think the bookies have the wrong favourites and Montrose in my opinion should be market leaders.
Martin Rennie has been the man for the goals at Montrose this season and has scored a highly-respectable 14 from 39 matches, including 10 goals from his last 17 games.
And he could prove a headache for East Fife’s defence on Saturday with the first goal of the game – priced 9-2 with McBookie.
Finally in League Two, Clyde will anxiously await the result of their appeal into their four-point deduction, with an SFA result to be delivered on Monday morning.
In the meantime they’ll try to keep the pressure on League Two leaders Peterhead as they visit second-placed Edinburgh City.
Clyde were going for a fifth straight win last weekend and by all accounts were unlucky to draw 3-3 with Peterhead.
Edinburgh City crashed to a 4-1 away defeat at Cowdenbeath last weekend and with Clyde in such good form I expect them to win, yet they are 19-10 outsiders.
David Goodwillie, with two goals last weekend against Peterhead, is 7-2 with McBookie to score the game’s first goal.
