THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win. I’ve been on holiday so will check last week’s entries later and put the winner.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections. He says: “Anyway, it seems like an age since we had some league matches and it is good to get stuck into the SPFL action again.
“Without wishing to sound like a broken record, bookies are continuing to underestimate Motherwell in their betting and as a result Well continue to do this column plenty of favours.
“On the opening day of the season I tipped them as a great bet at 6-4 to finish in the top six and they now sit third in the table and are 1-3 shots.
“Motherwell have won five of their last six Premiership matches, the only blip coming at home to Ross County when reduced to 10 men.
“On current form they should take care of an Aberdeen side who are under pressure following a disappointing exit to Hearts in the League Cup and a 5-0 thrashing by Rangers.
“Correctly predicting a Motherwell win has been a lot easier than finding a first scorer for them this season as most of the goals have not come from their forward line-up so I will take a chance on the impressive winger Sherwin Seedorf, who has scored two goals from his last five games and is 15-2 with McBookie for the opening goal.
“In the Championship 8-15 title favourites Dundee United have had a little wobble in the last month. They lost 1-0 to lowly Alloa in their last game and two weeks prior to that were a goal down with two minutes to go at home Arbroath before grabbing two late goals.
“And don’t forget the week before that they lost 2-0 to Ayr United. True, in the middle of those poor efforts Dundee United did thrash Morton 6-0, but given the overall performances from those last four matches I wouldn’t want to take 4-6 about them winning at Queen of the South. And I suspect they might be even shorter come kick-off.
“The Doonhamers look too big at 4-1 and might just be coming into some sort of form with two wins as well as a draw against Dundee and a defeat to ICT from their last four games.
“Stephen Dobbie has yet to really fire this season with just three goals from 10 appearances, which is most unlike him.
“Dobbie will be keen to make his mark in this game with all the talk about the scoring exploits of Dundee United’s Lawrence Shankland. He is 11-2 to score first compared to just 15-8 for Scotland’s new boy.
“Finally in League One I am going to take on Airdrie again after they crashed out of the Challenge Cup last weekend at home to Elgin City.
“I have not been convinced about the Diamonds this season and it is worth taking them on at home to a Montrose side with back-to-back wins in the league.
“Montrose’s Graham Webster has scored three goals in his last two games and is a massive 14-1 to score first. McBookie make him 11-2 to score to break the deadlock.”
