Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections. He says: “Regular readers of will know East Fife have done us a couple of favours already this season and I expect the Fifers to provide another fillip on Saturday by taking the scalp of League One title favourites Falkirk.
“Bookies don’t share my optimism though as they have East Fife priced up as 4-1 outsiders for their trip to the Falkirk Stadium. On balance of form there is precious little between the two sides.
“Unbeaten in the league, East Fife have won four and drawn three matches while Falkirk have lost one, won four and drawn two,
“It is worth remembering two of Falkirk’s four wins have been against Montrose and Stranraer who look like fighting the automatic relegation battle between themselves.
“While three of East Fife’s four wins have been against teams in the top five, including a 4-2 win over league leaders Raith Rovers, who beat Falkirk 2-0 in the Challenge Cup.
“Last weekend, despite dominating possession East Fife fell two goals behind against Dumbarton, before coming back to snatch a point.
“I expect this to be a close game and can’t see how Falkirk, who sit a point behind East Fife in the table, can be 8-15 against a side who have won four of their last five games and drawn the other. East Fife midfielder Scott Agnew has been among the goals this season scoring six times from 12 appearances.
“He has also scored four times from his last five matches and is on the pens for the Fifers. McBookie make him a tempting 11-1 chance to score the first goal.
“In League Two I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn’t seeing things when I looked to see the odds on the Edinburgh City v Queen’s Park game.
“I fully expected to see the Citizens priced at 8-15 or 1-2 for this game and yet they are a massive 17-20 (almost even money).
“Since the opening-day disaster when they lost 5-0 to Cove Rangers and had two players sent off, Edinburgh City have taken the exact same number of points as Cove in their next six games – winning five and drawing the other. I can’t imagine Cove would have been priced at 17-20 for this and the price is astonishing.
“Even more so when you consider Edinburgh City have scored 13 goals in their last four games while the Spiders have one solitary goal from their last six hours of football and were thrashed 3-0 at home by Cowdenbeath last weekend.
“Alex Harris has bagged three goals from his last seven games for Edinburgh City, including back-to-back goals in his last two. The well-travelled ex-Hibs winger is proving a handful in League Two and at 25 years of age still has a lot of football left to play. McBookie make him 13-2 to score the opening goal.
“I flagged up a couple of weeks ago how Cowdenbeath have strengthened their squad with the addition of a couple of Hearts loan players and since then they have not looked back – winning their last four matches and last couple by 3-0.
“Once again the bookies have been generous with their pricing and the Blue Brazil can be backed at 21-20 at home to Albion Rovers. Cowdenbeath defender Fraser Mullen’s goals have played a big part in that winning run and he has scored four times from his last five games. Mullen is 14-1 with McBookie to open the scoring.
