SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Southampton’s Premier League fixture with Leicester at St Mary’s on Friday night.
Southampton vs Leicester (Friday, 20:00)
Leicester will be looking to tighten their grip on third place in the Premier League table when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Friday night.
I’ve already penned a separate match preview for this Friday night fixture which can be found here, but I’ve since identified a Bet Builder that makes appeal.
If we combine over zero Leicester goals and each team to see at least one card we will be presented with a nice looking 10/11 shot.
Leicester have avoided defeat in 10 of their 16 top-flight road trips this term and they have notched up at least one strike in 14/16 Premier League matches away from their King Power base this season.
Southampton, on the other hand, are languishing in the lower echelons of the Premier League table and their season was effectively ended when they were beaten 1-0 by the Foxes in their FA Cup semi-final a couple of weeks ago.
What’s more, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints have recorded just one clean sheet across their last 14 league games, not to mention Southampton have shipped two or more goals in each of their last five top-flight tussles.
With that in mind, I’m more than happy to back Brendan Rodgers’ men to make the net bulge on Friday night, but in order to boost up the price, I’ll also back each team to see at least one card.
The Saints have received 1+ booking in 15 of their last 20 league outings, while Leicester are averaging two cards per game on their travels this term – the second-highest tally in the division.
Indeed, referee Robert Jones is averaging a lowly 2.57 cards per game in the Premier League this term, but he has flashed two or more cards in each of the last six top-flight matches that he has taken charge of.
It’s also worth noting that the above-mentioned combination has clicked in each of the previous two meetings between these sides this season and that adds to the appeal of supporting the same formula at St Mary’s on Friday night.
