Sevilla vs Getafe (Saturday, 20:00)
Sevilla are on the charge in La Liga and they will be looking to make it seven league wins on the spin when they play host to Getafe on Saturday night.
Julen Lopetegui’s side start the weekend in fourth-place and find themselves just one point behind Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Last time out in La Liga Sevilla earned a 2-0 win away at Eibar before booking a Copa del Rey semi-final berth in midweek.
Getafe have punched above their weight in recent seasons but Jose Bordalas’s side are currently housed in midtable and head into this bout having won just two of their last seven Spanish top-flight tussles.
That means the in-form hosts are heavily fancied here at a general 4/6, however, I’m going to head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder to get a bigger price with a view to getting Sevilla onside.
If we combine Sevilla to win and Getafe to receive over one card during the match we can get some 10/11 (Bet 365) and that price makes appeal.
Sevilla have won eight of their last nine fixtures in all competitions and it’s worth mentioning that the rampant Red-Whites have avoided defeat in 18 of their last 20 La Liga assignments at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
That does not bode well for a Getafe team who have won just twice on the road term, not to mention Bordalas’s side were on the receiving end of a 5-1 thumping away at Athletic Club Bilbao less than a fortnight ago.
With that in mind, I’m more than happy to side with Sevilla on Saturday night but I’ll also back Getafe to receive over one card during this dust-up.
The battle-hardened visitors are averaging 3.55 yellows per game this season – the highest tally in the division by some distance – and when digging a bit deeper it can be seen that Bordalas’s bone-crunchers have received at least two bookings in each of their 20 La Liga fixtures this season.
With Sevilla expected to dominate possession for long stages here the Dark Blues will almost certainly revert to the dark arts and we have a decent referee here in Juan Martinez Munurea who is averaging 4.25 yellows per game this term.
It’s also worth noting that the Benidorm-born whistler took charge of the reverse fixture earlier this season, on a night where the above-mentioned Bet Builder would have banked profit.
