SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Denmark’s make-or-break clash with Russia on Monday night.
Russia vs Denmark (Monday, 20:00)
It’s last chance saloon for Denmark when they square off with Russia at the Parken Stadium on Monday night.
Tipped by many as dark horses before the tournament, the Danes are propping up the pool with no points after two rounds of fixtures.
However, Kasper Hjulmand‘s crew could still qualify for the last-16 with a solitary success so long as Finland lose against Belgium (along with a swing in goal difference).
Russia, meanwhile, currently occupy second spot thanks to hard-fought 1-0 win over the Finns and as such, their fate is in their own hands ahead of this make-or-break showdown.
This is, by a distance, the most complicated group going into matchday three so I’m going to swerve the match result market and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
If we combine under four match goals, over zero Denmark goals, over two Denmark corners and over zero Russia cards we can get a nice looking 21/20 (Bet 365) odds-against play.
The stakes couldn’t be higher ahead of this do-or-die dust-up and given the immense pressure that will be on both sides, I suspect goals could be in short supply.
Indeed, Denmark will have to go for broke at some point here, but they also need to keep the back door shut too, so both sides could err on the side of caution.
Having said that, I still fancy the Danes to notch at least once when faced with a Russian rearguard that has failed to register a clean sheet in 10 of their last 12 assignments.
Denmark, on the other hand, have made the net bulge in 12 of their last 13 matches, not to mention they will be roared on by a raucous Copenhagen crowd.
In order to boost up the price, I’ll throw over two Denmark corners into the mix – Hjulmand’s side should be playing on the front foot in this one and three or more flag kicks doesn’t look like too much to ask of a team who are entering must-win territory
I’ll complete the Bet Builder with over zero Russia cards – Stanislav Cherchesov’s charges chalked up three cautions against Finland and with another nervy clash excepted here, I’m more than happy to back the Russians to pick up at least one booking as Group B reaches its dramatic climax.
