After tipping up another two winners on Thursday, SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy from Friday nights Scottish League Cup clash between Rangers and Dunfermline.
Rangers vs Dunfermline (Friday, 19:30)
Rangers will be looking to get back on track when they play host to Dunfermline in the Premier Sports Cup on Friday night.
Steven Gerrard’s side slumped to a third defeat on the spin as they crashed out of the Champions League to 10-man Malmo on Tuesday night.
That bruising setback marked the first time that Gerrard has presided over a trio of defeats in the Ibrox dugout and he will demand a response from his team on Friday night.
Standing in Gers way is second-tier Dunfermline, who themselves have made a poor start to their own Championship campaign, picking up just one point from a possible six so far.
The Fifers could feel the wrath of a wounded Rangers beast here but there is little value in siding with the hosts at a general 1/10 so it’s therefore a case of having to get creative to get the hosts onside.
I’ll therefore dip into Sky Bet’s Request A Bet Market and combine two or more Rangers goals and 20+ Dunfermline booking points, a nice looking 10/11 (SkyBet) shot.
Rangers are expected to field a strong side at Ibrox on Friday night as they look to arrest their slide and restore some confidence.
Gerrard’s charges were simply untouchable in the Scottish Premiership at their Govan fortress last season, posting 19/19 wins and notching at least twice in 15 of those outings.
Dunfermline, on the other hand, have shipped five goals across their opening two Scottish Championship assignments and that fragility does not bode well ahead of a trip to Govan.
As such, Peter Grant’s Pars may deploy the dark arts here in an attempt to shackle a Rangers side that racked up 97 goals when sweeping all before them in Scotland last season.
What’s more, Dunfermline picked up a couple of cards in their curtain-raiser at Morton whilst each of Rangers four opponents this season have received at least two cards when trying to tame the Teddy Bears.
It’s also worth noting that the aforementioned combination clicked during Rangers recent home win over Livingston and that only adds to the appeal of supporting the same formula at Ibrox on Friday night.
