Partick Thistle will set out to make it two wins from two in the Scottish Championship when they play host to Hamilton Academical on Saturday afternoon.
After finishing top of their Premier Sports Cup group, Ian McCall’s men got off to a flying start last weekend with a well-deserved 3-2 win at Dundee.
The Jags will be hoping to continue their strong start to the campaign by securing another three points when they face Hamilton this weekend.
Accies started the league season with a 1-1 draw at home to Morton last Saturday and now head to Firhill this weekend looking to get their first win of the season.
That being said, it’s Patick Thistle who enter this contest as 21/20 (SportNation) favourites and I’m more than happy to back the in-form hosts to prevail at that price.
With Partick’s squad looking in better shape than the previous year, Ian McCall will be optimistic about his side’s chances of mounting a promotion push.
Thistle certainly made a major statement of intent in their Championship curtain-raiser by toppling ante-post title favourites Dundee in their own backyard last weekend and will therefore be brimming with confidence ahead of their maiden home league match of the season.
While Hamilton put up a decent showing in the Premier Sports Cup, they were ultimately eliminated, with their only victories coming against League Two duo Forfar and Stranraer.
It’s also worth pointing out that John Rankin’s charges have posted just one clean sheet across their opening five competitive contests of the season, conceding multiple goals on two of those occasions.
With this in mind, and given that the hosts have been playing some exciting football of late, siding with a Partick Thistle success on Saturday stands out at 21/20 with SportNation.
Considering that scoring goals hasn’t been a problem for Thistle during the early weeks of the season, the 13/10 available with William Hill for Partick to score two or more goals also looks like an attractive betting proposition.
The Jags have struck at least twice in four of their five outings this term so they could represent a spot of early season value to repeat the trick against a Hamilton team that is not exactly renowned for being watertight.
