Fresh off the back of a Saturday winner, SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League fixture with Arsenal at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Newcastle vs Arsenal (Sunday, 14:00)
Newcastle will aim to take another step closer to securing their Premier League status when they welcome Newcastle to St James’ Park on Sunday.
The Magpies have significantly eased their relegation fears by avoiding defeat in seven of their last eight Premier League matches, a sequence of results that has provided Steve Bruce’s side with a healthy nine point buffer between themselves and the bottom-three.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have struggled for any degree of consistency this season and they start the weekend languishing down in tenth-place in the Premier League table.
It would appear that winning the Europa League now represents Arsenal’s best chance of securing Champions League football next season, however, those ambitions suffered a major setback when the Londoners lost 2-1 at Villareal on Thursday night.
As such, Mikel Arteta may rotate his squad here and I’m therefore going to swerve the match result market and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
If we combine over zero Newcastle goals and each team to see at least one card we will be presented with an eye-catching even-money (1/1) play.
The Toon have hit the back of the net in each of their last eight Premier League home matches, while out-of-sorts Arsenal have bagged just one clean sheet across their last 12 top-flight tussles.
In fact, Arsenal have failed to win seven of their last nine fixtures in all competitions and I suspect that the Gunners will have one eye on their make-or-break return match in Europe this coming midweek.
With that in mind, coupled with Newcastle’s marked improvement in recent weeks, I’m happy to back the Magpies to make the net bulge against what could be battle-weary Arsenal side on Sunday
I’ll complete the Bet Builder by backing each team to receive at least one card in what should be an open and entertaining encounter, not to mention both sides are averaging over one card per game this season.
It’s also worth noting that card-happy Mike Dean will take charge of this fixture, with the Wirral-born whistler showing each team a card in 14 of his last 15 Premier League assignments.
What’s more, the above-mentioned combination has clicked in six of Newcastle’s last seven Premier League home matches so I’m more than happy to proceed with the same formula at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
