RB Leipzig’s failure to score on Tuesday night brought my recent hot-streak to an end but I’m aiming to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night in Marseille,
Marseille vs Porto (Wednesday, 20:00)
Marseille are entering must-win territory on Wednesday night when they welcome Porto to the Stade Velodrome in the Champions League.
Andre Villas-Boas’ boys have lost each of their opening three Group C assignments and desperately need to breathe some life into their crumbling Champions League campaign.
Porto, meanwhile, have put themselves in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages after winning their last two fixtures, including a comfortable 3-0 win over Marseille in the reverse fixture.
Another win here for Sergio Conceicao’s side would be a big step towards qualification but I’m going to steer clear of the outright markets in this match and head to the Bet 365 Bet Builder.
If we combine over one match goal and each team to collect at least one card, we can get a 4/5 (Bet 365) shot and that angle makes appeal.
Marseille have shipped two or more goals in 11 of their last 12 tussles when dining at Europe’s top table and they have conceded seven goals in three Group C outings thus far.
Such defensive frailty does not bode well ahead of a bout with a Porto team who could pose a significant threat on the counter-attack on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese champions gave Man City a scare at the Etihad and given that Marseille will have to go for broke here to keep their Champions League hopes alive I’m more than happy to back over one match goal.
