After delivering a winner in the Scottish Championship last weekend, SlipsTips is back with another selection from the second tier on Saturday.
Inverness vs Partick Thistle (Saturday, 15:00)
Duncan Ferguson will be looking to mark his home debut as Inverness manager on Saturday afternoon by steering his side to another three points when they play host to Partick Thistle
Scottish football was gripped with Big Dunc fever last week following the Scotsman’s surprise appointment as Caley Thistle boss and he was soon making more headlines after hitting the ground running with a 3-2 win at Arbroath.
That Gayfield triumph earned Inverness a much-needed maiden league win of the season and it also hauled the Highlanders off the foot of the Scottish Championship table in the process.
It goes with saying that the Caley Jags will be buoyed by last week’s win in Angus, however a visit from Partick Thistle promises to be a much sterner test of their mettle.
After slumping to a shock 3-0 defeat at home to Arbroath a fortnight ago, Kris Doolan’s side rebounded in style with a 3-0 demolition of Dunfermline last weekend.
That victory propelled the Jags up to third spot in the standings and another win here would see them make further inroads on the top two as something has to give when Raith Rovers host Dundee United at Starks Park on Saturday.
Amidst all the Duncan Ferguson fanfare, it’s Partick Thistle who make the long trek north as 6/5 favourites, however I’m going to bypass the 1×2 market and instead back the visitors to score Over 1.5 goals at 11/10 (PaddyPower).
The Firhill outfit have been thrilling second tier crowds all season, with each of their opening seven league games of the season featuring a minimum of three match goals.
That is by and large down to the fact that Partick have been a potent force in the final-third this season, with Kirs Doolan’s side scoring a league-high 17 goals after seven rounds of fixtures.
The men from Maryhill have hit two or more goals in five of those seven outings, not to mention they have racked up a mighty impressive three or more strikes in four of their last five league games.
While Inverness clearly benefited from the new manager bounce last weekend, Duncan Ferguson has inherited side that are not accustomed to keeping clean sheets
In fact, Inverness have failed to silence their opponents in each of their 12 matches across all competitions this season so far.
That defensive vulnerability was clear to see during last Saturday’s 3-2 success when the Smokies struck twice in the second-half to set up a grandstand finish at Gayfield.
Therefore, free-scoring Partick Thistle could well bring their Highland hosts back down to earth on Saturday and the 11/10 (PaddyPower) on the visitors to score twice stands out.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Partick Thistle Goals – 11/10 (PaddyPower)
