FC Zürich will set out to increase their stranglehold on the Swiss Super League title when they lock horns with Lugano on Sunday afternoon.
André Breitenreiter’s side have now been victorious in each of their last eight league matches, which has seen them surge nine points clear at the top of the table, collecting 46 points from their opening 20 matches of the 2021-22 campaign.
Meanwhile, Lugano have been quietly impressive so far this season, with Mattia Croci-Torti’s men just four points behind second-placed Basel.
Having said that, the visitors have triumphed in just two of their last six league games and now they face the stern test of going up against a rampant FC Zürich side.
The money has started to come for Zürich who are a general 7/10 to get past Lugano but we can get some 4/ 5 (William Hill) by supporting the hosts to score two or more goals and that looks like an enticing boost in price.
As already alluded to, the runaway leaders are currently in the midst of an eight-game winning streak, not to mention they continue to be the highest-scoring side in the division.

What’s more, Der Stadtclub have struck at least twice in a lofty 14/120 (70%) of their league games this season, bagging a brace in 7/10 (70%) games when operating at their Letzigrund headquarters.
Whilst Lugano are capable of keeping this contest competitive, the visitors tend to fall short against Swiss Super League’s elite, as was the case in each of their previous seven meetings with the three sides positioned above them in the standings this season.
With all that in mind, coupled with the implied odds suggesting a 55.55% chance of success, I’m more than happy to back high-flying FC Zürich to strike twice on Sunday.
