SlipsTips takes a look at Saturday’s Scottish League Two fixture between Edinburgh City and Queen’s Park.
Edinburgh City vs Queen’s Park (Saturday, 12:00)
Champions-in-waiting Queen’s Park will look to take another step closer to securing the Scottish League Two title when they travel to Edinburgh on Saturday.
The big-spending Spiders surged 12 points clear at the summit of the standings with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Annan Athletic on Tuesday night.
That triumph means that the Scottish third-tier title race already looks like a formality with potentially six rounds of fixtures left to play.
In fact, Ray McKinnon’s men will be presented with the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table when they take on second-placed Edinburgh City on Saturday.
Gary Naysmith’s side have been in fine fettle since the league resumption, having avoided defeat in seven League Two outings and winning five of those matches.
However, all-conquering Queen’s Park will represent a significant upgrade on previous challenges, but the money has come for the runaway league leaders who are a general 4/5 to bank another three points on Saturday.
I’m therefore going to opt for an alternative angle and instead back Scotland’s oldest club to score two or more goals on Saturday at 11/10 with Betfred.
Queen’s have notched up two or more strikes in 11 of their 16 league matches this term, including each of their last five Scottish League Two road trips.
Edinburgh, on the other hand, have conceded at least one goal in 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions, not to mention the capital club have chalked up just three shutouts in 16 League Two outings to date.
With that in mind, coupled with the full-time firepower that McKinnon has at his disposal, I reckon two or more Queen’s Park goals on Saturday represents a terrific bit of value at odd-against quotes of 11/10.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Queen’s Park Goals – 11/10–(Betfred)
