After delivering no fewer than nine winners from 10 selections across the weekend, SlipsTips is back to take a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Dundee United and Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarter-final tie at Tannadice on Monday night.
Dundee United vs Celtic (Monday, 19:45)
Dundee United and Celtic will lock horns in the Scottish Cup on Monday night, with the two teams battling for a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Terrors have overcome Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle to reach the sixth round of the tournament, while Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic have beaten Alloa and Raith Rovers to progress to this stage.
Unsurprisingly Celtic are short-priced 1/4 favourites here and I’m therefore going to head to the Bet Builder market whereby I’m happy to follow a familiar theme.
Combining over five Celtic corners and over one Dundee United card will bring about a 20/21 (Bet 365) play and that makes plenty of appeal.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have been flying the flag for corner-based backers all season, with the high-octane Hoops hitting more corner kicks than their opponents in 28 of their 30 Scottish top-flight fixtures this term, a sample that includes each of their previous three meetings with Dundee United.
In fact, attack-minded Celtic are averaging a colossal 9.54 corners per-game in the Scottish Premiership this season, covering the 6+ flag kick line in all but one of their last 25 league outings.
With that in mind, coupled with the likelihood of Dundee United setting up with the aim of frustrating the Glasgow giants with a low block whilst making the most of set-piece opportunities, I’m more than happy to side with a minimum of six Celtic corners.
Given that Celtic have drawn two or more cards from 14 of their last 15 domestic opponents, I’ll round off the Bet Builder with over one Dundee United booking.
Tam Courts’s team are averaging 2.20 yellow cards per-game in the Scottish Premiership this season, not to mention referee John Beaton has been one of the more card-happy operators in Scotland this season, averaging 4.13 cards per 90 minutes.
It’s also worth noting that the aforementioned combination has clicked in each of Celtic’s last three league games and that only adds to the appeal of supporting the same multiple at Tannadice on Monday night.
Recommended Bet
- Over 5 Celtic Corners
- Over 1 Dundee United Card
- Bet Builder – 20/21 (Bet 365)
