SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final showdown with Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Chelsea vs Real Madrid (Wednesday, 20:00)
Chelsea and Real Madrid will battle it out for a place in this season’s Champions League final when they square off at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
This semi-final second-leg showdown is delicately poised following last week’s 1-1 draw at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
The Blues have improved markedly since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and they tightened their grip on a Premier League top-four berth with a 2-0 win against Fulham on Saturday, on a night where my recommended Bet Builder banked.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, warmed up for this clash with a 2-0 win over Osasuna, a result that keeps Los Blancos engaged in a terrific four-way title race in La Liga.
However, this titanic tussle looks a lot more tricky to tackle from a betting perspective so I’m going to swerve the match result market here and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
The 20/21 (Bet 365) combination that I like the look of in West London on Wednesday night is under four match goals, each team to see at least one card and over three match cards.
Each of Chelsea’s last five Champions League matches have featured fewer than three match goals, while under 2.5 goal backers would have been rewarded in five of Real Madrid’s last six matches across all competitions.
What’s more, a whopping 20 of Chelsea’s last 23 matches have generated less than three strikes, with the Blues bagging an eye-watering 17 clean sheets in the process.
With that in mind, coupled with what’s at stake here, I’m more than happy to oppose goals in what could be a cagey contest at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
In order to boost the price up to 20/21 (Bet 365), I’ll also back each team to collect a card and for there to be four or more match cards dished out during this dust-up.
Referee Daniele Orsato will officiate this high-stakes affair, with the Italian whistler flashing a collective total of 12 yellows and two reds across the last three Champions League ties that he has taken charge of.
It’s also worth noting that the above-mentioned combination clicked in the Spanish capital last midweek and I’m more than happy to support the same formula at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Recommended Bet
- Under 4 Match Goals, Over 0 Chelsea Cards, Over 0 Real Madrid Cards & Over 3 Match Cards – Bet Builder – 20/21 (Bet 365)
