SlipsTips returns to share a selection from the English Championship on on Saturday, with Burnley’s contest with Coventry City taking centre-stage.
Burnley vs Coventry City (Saturday, 15:00)
Burnley will set out to increase their stranglehold on the English Championship table when they take on Coventry City at Turf Moor on Saturday.
The Clarets, who are currently 14 points clear of third-placed Blackburn Rovers, have been rightly lauded for adapting brilliantly to Vincent Kompany’s possession-based style of play this season.
Not only have Burnley claimed top honours in each of their last six league games, but they have since booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round with a brilliant 4-2 victory against Premier League outfit Bournemouth.
As for Coventry, they haven’t exactly reached the same heights and are somewhat treading water in mid-table right now having won just one of their last six league games, not to mention they were eliminated from the FA Cup by non-League Wrexham last weekend.
Considering the contrasting form of these sides, it’s no surprise to see Burnley as general 4/6 chances here, however backing the league leaders to score twice will boost the price to an enticing 4/5 (Bet 365).
As already alluded, Kompany’s arrival at Turf Moor has seen Clarets identity completely flip, and that can be attributed to the fact they are the division’s top scorers, with 52 goals racked up across their opening 26 games of the season, an average of exactly two goals per-game.
What’s more, Burnley have delivered multiple goals in a joint league-high 14 of their 26 league matches this season so far, banging in two or more strikes in nine of their 13 outings at their Lancashire base.
While Coventry boast one of the best defensive records in the division, a trip to table-topping Burnley is likely to be their toughest test of the season to date.
It’s also worth noting that Mark Robins’ men have slacked off from a defensive standpoint in recent weeks, with the Sky Blues bagging just two clean sheets across their last seven outings in all competitions, conceding 3+ goals in three of their last six assignments.
With all that in mind, coupled with the fact that high-flying Burnley have scored two goals or more in eight of their last nine league games, supporting the same selection on Saturday stands out at a value 4/5 (Bet 365).
Recommended Bet
- Over 1 Burnley Goal – 4/5 (Bet 365)
